Year 6 Autumn 1st Half Term

Mission to Mars

In topic this half term we will be covering the topic Mission to Mars. We will be looking at the planets in our solar system and investigating the geographical features of Mars. We will also be finding out about the technology that has been used to explore Mars and to investigate evidence to prove or disprove whether there was once life on Mars. As part of the children’s learning log task they will be expected to design/make a shelter that they could live in on Mars. They will also need to consider use of space in their shelter. It will need living quarters and an area for growing food and vegetables. Also consider other areas that might be important (a garage for a buggy, a laboratory for testing rock/soil samples, a storage, area and so on).

This should be completed and handed in at the latest by Friday 16th October.

Homework will be set each Friday and needs to be returned for the following Wednesday.  Your child will be given a homework folder and all work should be placed in this. Homework is an essential part of the curriculum and your support is appreciated.  Children who do not complete homework tasks will need to complete it in THEIR TIME in school. Spellings will be sent home every Friday and children will tested every following Friday.

Reading books will be sent home on every night.  Children need to have their Reading Record signed at least 3 times a week by an adult.

Initially, children will just need a change of footwear to take part in our P.E. sessions. This will be until further notice.

Thank you!
