Year 4 Autumn 1st Half Term
Hello and welcome to Year 4
The main things your child will be learning and developing are:
-In English we will be starting by looking at narratives.
-In maths we will be spending the first few weeks learning about number, place value and addition and subtraction.
-In science we will be learning about animals including humans.
-In our topic, we’ll be finding out:
What life was like in Ancient Egypt
How to write using Egyptian hieroglyphics
About Ancient Egyptian burials
How the pyramids might have been built
About the treasures discovered in Tutankhamun’s tomb.
About instruments used in Ancient Egypt
How to make an Ancient Egyptian headdress
How to plan an Ancient Egyptian celebration to share with friends and family.
Temples, Tombs and Treasures
At the back of each newsletter, there will be a Learning Log task related to the topic being taught. Children are encouraged to research the topic and complete their work in their Learning Log. Hand in date will be.
Make a model of an Egyptian artifact and write some information to go alongside it.
Please return by 16th October 2020
Homework will be set each Friday and needs to be returned for the following Wednesday. Your child will be given a homework wallet and all work should be placed in this. Homework is an essential part of the curriculum and your support is appreciated. Children who do not complete homework tasks will need to complete it in THEIR TIME in school.
Reading books will be sent home EVERY NIGHT. Children need to have their Reading Record signed by an adult AT LEAST 3 TIMES A WEEK.
Ensuring P.E kit is in school on Friday. P.E lessons will take place INSIDE therefore children need to come with suitable clothes for indoor P.E.
